The Opioid Crisis and the Need for Faster Overdose Response
A highly addictive opioid drug that can be up to 100 times more potent than morphine, is being pressed into fake pills. These deadly street pills are made to look like Oxycontin, Xanax, Adderall, and other brand name pharmaceuticals. These pills are designed to drive repeated use, often with deadly consequences. This growing threat highlights the urgent need for faster opioid overdose response in communities nationwide.

One Pill Can Kill
As little as 2 MG of fentanyl can be fatal. A staggering 7 out of 10 fake pills seized by the Drug Enforcement Administration were found to contain a lethal dose of fentanyl.* One pill often produces a strong urge to keep the artificial good feeling going by taking a second or third pill – often with tragic consequences.

The Number of Deaths is Rising
The opioid crisis is affecting more than illicit drug users. Incidents of accidental opioid overdose by non-addicts, including children, are making headlines across the nation. This shift underscores the importance of public awareness and preparedness for overdose emergencies.

A Deadly Deceit
The DEA seized more than 77 million fentanyl-laced pills in a single year, more than double the number seized in the prior year.* Some of these fake pills are made to look like candy. This trend continues to fuel overdose awareness efforts across the country.
